Balsam Lake:
The day started out great, but by 9:00am the temperature started to climb & the wind began to howl! Balsam Lake was not kind to the Sunrise Bassmasters.
Congratulations to Jeff & Sean who came in 1st with a meager 3 fish that weighed 4.90lbs. Ryan & Kevin N. followed in 2nd with 3 fish weighing 4.19lbs. John & Nick came in with the BIG fish, 2.08lbs!!
Jigs, jerkbaits, and spinners seemed to somewhat work. All & all this was a real tough day. Hopefully the Island lake Reservoir Double Rumble will be kinder to the Bassmasters! |
The club wrapped up the season on Knife Lake. The fishing was pretty decent overall, with several 4+ pound fish being brought in. Jeff Wilson took home Big Bass and the win, fishing jigs along laydowns and rocky banks. By taking 3rd place, Adam Wilson successfully locked up his first Angler of the Year title. Congrats Jeff and Adam!

Joe Anderson and Kevin Nelson smashed them on Green Lake this weekend, winning by over 5lbs. Their 20.91lb bag is now the 2nd largest limit in Sunrise history! With the huge win, Joe vaulted all the way from 10th place into 1st in the Angler of the year race.

The club enjoyed another great day of fishing on Goose Lake. Many nice fish were brought to the scales, and another huge bag was needed to win. Jay and Adam nearly broke the 20lb barrier with their limit of fish. Adam now takes a 5+lb lead for the AOY race into the Knife Lake tournament on October 1st.

Sunrise Bassmasters got reacquainted with the 2011 TOC waters this past weekend. The weather was great, and the bassin' was typical Whitefish. Lots of keepers to be had, but finding the 3.0lb+ fish was difficult. Jay and Kevin took the win on Saturday, and Wayne and Kevin took the win on Sunday. That's 3 wins in a row for Kevin Nelson! With two solid tournaments, Adam Wilson moves into the top position for the AOY Race. Only two tournaments remain, Goose Lake in August, and Knife Lake in early October. The club paid it's first visit to Clam Lake in Siren, WI recently, kicking off it's 2011 tournament season. Clam Lake produced some good fishing, with many boats weighing in a limit. Jigs and crankbaits were reported as being productive presentations. Up next is Rush Lake on June 11th.

A fundraiser in support of the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau. Which provides support for youth in Washington and Chisago Counties.
Weigh-In will be at the Disabled Veterans Rest Campe (www.vetscampmn.org) located in the southwest corner of the lake. For folks driving to the weigh-in, the Vets Camp is located off of County Road 15(Manning Trail). Turn East on 180th Street N to get to the camp. Nick Wilson officially wins the Sunrise Bassmasters AOY title. He won 4 out of 7 events, and amassed a new club record of 92.80 lbs! Does he have enough room on his walls for all those plaques!? Nick also moved up 9 spots from last year and wins the Horizon Award for most improved.
